We at Domacin are proud to announce Stephen Dooley of Stephen Ross Vineyards will be joining us for a winemaker’s dinner on March 11th at 6pm. We are very excited to have this fantastic winemaker here at our restaurant.

Stephen originally hails from the Mankato area and moved to California in the 70s when he transferred to UC Davis to follow his growing interest in winemaking. Following graduating with a degree in enology he was lucky enough to land a job with Louis M. Martini Winery in Napa Valley. He started at the bottom of the totem pole and eventually becoming assistant winemaker. During his time with Martini he was able to travel to South Africa to assist in winemaking there as well as travel to Australia to help them complete construction of a new winery and producing their inaugural vintage.

Upon his return to the U.S. Stephen was “discovered” by the Chalone Wine Group during which time he worked for the highly regarded Edna Valley Vineyard winery. During his time with Edna Valley he quickly found himself adopting the “Burgundian” style of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and over time he found himself adding his own nuances of style and eventually found himself observing winemaking in Burgundy. After completing seven vintages at Edna Valley Vineyard, Dooley left Edna Valley Vineyard during the summer of 1994 to form his own company, and develop his own label under his first and middle name “Stephen Ross”. A friendly and engaging man, Dooley is a firm believer in a hands-on approach - as he puts it “in order to maintain the highest quality possible”.

We will be offering this wine dinner for $75 a person which will include a five-courses of the food and the wine pairings. The details will follow in an upcoming newsletter. Seating is limited and reservations are strongly encouraged.
